Alex Monteith: Accelerated Geographies

Monteith penetrates the physical and psychological terrain of performative action and engages with communities associated with adrenaline-fuelled sports as they ‘perform’ within specific geographies. Motorcycle racing, free surfing and aerobatic flying are all investigated alongside considered social protest as Monteith brings her knowledge of these activities into the realm of art. Her empathetic ability to work with and make video recordings of high performance practitioners in so many fields results in art works of tremendous beauty and magnetism.
